The coronavirus has shattered the American economy to a degree that no other crisis has since the attacks of September 11, 2001. Entire businesses and industries have been completely shut down in a matter of a week. Professional sports are on an indefinite hold, concerts and conferences have been called off, and many states have required restaurants and bars to close dine-in services.
It’s been saddening to watch friends and acquaintances lose their employment, and my favorite local businesses struggle. I want to help in the way I know best: providing marketing services.
Initially, I wanted to be able to offer businesses affected by coronavirus a free new website, so that they could come out of the shutdown with a fresh new site. Unfortunately, I am only one man and I can’t produce websites at the kind of scale needed to help every business. Instead, what I am offering is a free 90-day marketing strategy on top of my free initial marketing and site audit.
What does this mean? I dive into your site and your marketing efforts to find areas for improvement. I then lay out an entire digital marketing plan for the next 90 days that you can run with and use to improve your marketing efforts. Everything from the blog posts you should write, to the link opportunities you should approach and the site changes you should make will be included in this plan. All of this is completely free of charge with no strings attached.
My hope is that we can all use this time while sales are slower to focus on improving our marketing, because digital marketing is critical in this current economic climate. When times are good you should advertise, but when times are bad, you MUST advertise.
Why Digital Marketing Is More Important Than Ever
With individuals forced to spend more time at home and many brick and mortar shops shut down, the majority of purchases will be made online. The strength of your digital presence will determine how well you’re able to weather the storm.
Moreover, companies that continue to advertise in a recessionary market can grab market share from companies that halt or reduce marketing efforts. A study of the 1981-1982 US recession by McGraw-Hill found that companies who aggressively advertised during the recession grew 256% over businesses that failed to maintain their advertising.
There’s an unfair advantage larger businesses stand to gain in being able to afford to keep their marketing budgets healthy. I do not want other businesses to fall behind during the shutdown, which is why I want to help with your digital marketing efforts.
What The Marketing Strategy Includes
My 90-day strategies are designed to be as comprehensive as possible. You will be receiving the same plan I would create for myself if I was handling the digital marketing for your business. The plan will be custom-tailored to your business, your site, and your market. Marketing strategies will include:
- Recommended changes for your site and existing content to better optimize it for search engines and conversions
- A list of relevant blog topics to create for the next 3 months along with my documented process for how I write blog posts that rank and convert
- A content strategy for social media with post ideas for the next 3 months
- A list of content ideas you can use for link building
- A list of link opportunities for link building
- Outreach templates for link building campaigns
- Paid ad recommendations (if you’re willing to share access to your ad platforms so that I can review your campaigns)
- Google My Business recommendations and optimizations
Consulting on how to successfully conduct business remotely or provide virtual services (if interested)
Strategies do not include any execution or implementation. If you need help, I am happy to provide help, but will need to charge for work beyond development of the marketing strategy. With my strategy recommendations in place, you’ll be able to work through my plan to start improving your site and online presence immediately. Together we’ll get through this and I’m invested in helping as many businesses as I possibly can.
Who Can Obtain A Free Marketing Strategy?
Any US-based business negatively impacted by the coronavirus is eligible for a free strategy with a few exceptions. I cannot provide free strategy services to businesses who:
- Are currently working with a digital marketing agency (I can’t be performing work for my competitors for free)
- Offer the same services or products as my paying clients in the same geographic region where they have exclusivity (I offer exclusivity to clients so that I’m not working with their competitors)
If there is a conflict with exclusivity, I will let you know. Again, I am only one man and I cannot anticipate how many businesses will reach out for help. I vow to help every business that reaches out between now and April 30th.
Businesses will be helped on a first come, first serve basis. The more details you can provide me about your business and industry, the better my recommendations will be.
